Grab your walking shoes and head Downtown to Sam Houston Park on Sunday, September 21, at 7:00 a.m. help the National Kidney Foundation of Southeast Texas raise funds to find a cure for kidney-related illnesses.
“The Walk is designed to raise awareness of the problem of kidney disease and urge individuals to be proactive in their healthcare by asking for a simple urinalysis test to determine if they have the early signs,” said Nicole R. Sonnier, Chief Executive Officer of the National Kidney Foundation of Southeast Texas. “In addition to public education, the Walk is a great way to bring the community together to generate funds for a good cause.” More than 400 participants are expected.
Walkers of all ages are invited to join in the fun by walking individually, or forming a team. There are three walk routes: 1, 3 and 5 miles, with the option for participants to choose the one most suited to their fitness level. All registered walkers who raise $50 will receive a Kidney Walk t-shirt. Proceeds benefit the National Kidney Foundation of Southeast Texas.
